Trunk is one of the most popular containers for keeping clothing and various belongings of people. It has been famous as a furniture item throughout history. The history of this item began thousands of years ago in China where it was considered a very useful accessory. It is popular not only because it keeps your clothing safely inside it but also it helps you while moving from one place to another. People travelling from place to place find this furniture accessory quite useful. It helps you in keeping your clothing from being polluted and retains the actual shape of things inside it. In the past, people used animal hides or skins for covering the containers. People also carved different shapes on them to give them a beautiful look. In 1800’s when its use gained popularity among people, different traditional styles came into being. Still there are some shops and manufacturers that produce and sell similar boxes and containers that were popular centuries ago. One characteristic feature of trunk of that era was its large size. It was mostly composed of iron with leather carving on top. These trunks are known as antique pieces nowadays and people buy them out of artistic sense. Usually it was considered an item of great respect and use which was given to a child when he achieved his school age. The time passed by and various designs of trunk emerged.

It was the first time in history that furniture pieces were introduced with such a distinctive shape. Later on trunks were manufactured in dome-like shapes and round tops. These were the products of 1900’s and it really looked nice to see the interesting domes of these containers. In the same period, round-topped trunks were also being used that looked fabulous!
