3 Simple Tips to Turn Your Home into a Productive Environment

Ever had those days when you trudge home from work, with a mountain of things to do, collapse on the settee and don’t move for the rest of the night?

Almost everyone encounters problems with productivity at home but when doing nothing becomes a habit and that pile of housework is building up, it can become problematic, least of all for your family!

Here at Designer Sofas 4 U, we’ve compiled a list of easy ways to encourage you to get up off the couch and turn your home into a productive environment.

Go Unplugged

After a tiring day at work, sometimes you do just want to kick back and relax for a while and that’s fine but when you’re aimlessly scrolling through Facebook, watching trash TV and making Pinterest boards of new outfits you’ll never end up buying, you’ve got a serious case of procrastination on your hands.

So, what’s the solution? Go unplugged! Ideally, you shouldn’t have electrical devices in your bedroom as the lights that emanate from phone chargers and TV standby lights can prevent you from getting to sleep as well as offer a disturbed night’s sleep; making you feel groggy and drowsy the next morning (and through the next day!).

Additionally, by creating a ‘switch off’ time, you’ll be forced to do other things such as read a book, do some housework and, if you introduce the same rule to the family, you’ll be able to enjoy quality time with each other such as a late night swim or gym session leaving you feeling energised.

Create a Schedule

For those of leading busy lives, it’s impossible to think that once you get home from work you can then tackle every room in the house so ensure you create a weekly schedule of what room will take your attention on specific days.

That way, you won’t feel downhearted when you haven’t got it all done – and instead will feel pleased that you’re crossing things off your to-do list, one step at a time. Plus, by tackling one room at a time, the workload will decrease and soon enough you’ll only be doing small jobs each week.

Create a Cosy Corner

Sometimes, you need to get away from it all and that’s understandable. By creating a cosy corner somewhere in the home, you’re able to sit and take a few breaths just to gather your senses and relax after a stressful day.

Whether it’s a corner of your bedroom or a small nook on the landing, take time to invest in a comfy tub chair or wing chair that will see you sit back and forget about all your worries of the day. Once you’ve cleared your mind, you’ll be able to focus intently on any tasks you need to get done.
