3 Tips to help you position your sofa and TV

The USA is full of houses that are big enough to accommodate rooms devoted exclusively to watching TV - man caves, cinema rooms etcetera, but in the UK we’re often not graced with that luxury. There’s a lot less space on offer, and as a result our rooms often perform double, triple or even quadruple duties that mean they need to be arranged in the optimal position for everything life will throw at them. So how’s it done? Let DesignerSofas4U help.

1. If you’re lucky enough to have that room devoted to TV:

For the few among us who have the space to allocate an entire room to watching television and movies, the best way to arrange your room is to have a corner or sectional sofa directly facing your large, flat screen. This allows for conversation amongst you, your family and your guests whilst also creating the perfect space for a footrest or table.

2. If your TV room doubles as a living room:

Place your TV close to a secondary focal point, like a fireplace or mantle, with the rest of your furniture set up in much the same way as previously mentioned. A corner or sectional sofa, with a footstool or table in the middle and an armchair off to the side can create a wonderfully social atmosphere. The Television and fireplace being in easy view, but also offset a little will give the illusion that this room is more than just for TV – something you’ll certainly be going for in a dual functioning room.

You could also have your TV set in the corner of your living room, with two sofas facing each other across a table. This will, again, give the sense that a lot more than just TV watching goes on here, whilst providing a sophisticated atmosphere focused on socialising.

Mounting your TV above a fireplace is a great space saving option, especially if you want your television out a direct line of sight when your guests are sat around the coffee table. Regardless of the size of your screen, the layout of this room will send the clear message that this room is primarily for socialising, and watching TV comes second.
